A packed Friedman Lounge. Javier Mendoza. Five bands competing for the opportunity to play at WILD. One victor.
Due to weather, Sounds of the Swamp this Saturday was moved indoors, but regardless of the closer quarters, students still flocked to hear Javier Mendoza play and to hear local bands compete for the opportunity to play at spring WILD.
Five bands competed in the CS40-sponsored event, with music styles ranging from hip hop to classic rock. Friedman Lounge was chock-full throughout the day as students listened and judges judged the performing bands.
A panel of five judges, comprised of people from the St. Louis area-including the infamous Beetle Bob and one member of Team 31-selected the B-Side Folk Union to open for Crazy Town and Eve 6 at this spring’s WILD. Chris Wheat, outgoing Speaker of the CS40, described the B-Side’s sound at “Dave Matthews-esque” with a rock feel.
