After uncovering a time capsule placed in the original Athletics Complex nearly 113 years ago, Washington University announced that it would place a time capsule in the cornerstone of the new addition to the Athletics Complex.
Washington University students in 2061 will have special insight into campus life of 2011. University administrators and representatives from the Congress of the South 40 buried a time capsule on the South 40 Saturday morning at the Residential College Olympics.
A time capsule to be opened 100 years from now will be placed in the new South 40 House this spring. The capsule will include many items that showcase today’s University life and culture, including letters from Chancellor Mark Wrighton, Vice Chancellor for Students James McLeod, Dean of Students Justin Carroll and various student leaders.
