Red-light cameras should not be given the green light

A court ruling delivered Nov. 6 determined that red-light cameras in Ellisville, Mo., that catch a car running a red light are in violation of state law because the owner of the vehicle is ticketed instead of the driver. A St. Louis city spokeswoman, however, announced the next day that the ruling would have no effect on St. Louis’ red-light cameras.

In response to numerous complaints from the student body, Ashoka, the Washington University South Asian students association that puts on the show Diwali, recently confirmed that it will change the method for distributing tickets to the show.

Last Thursday, Washington University hosted yet another important national political debate, its fourth in the last five election cycles.

Over 400 students received debate tickets

A total of 432 students received tickets to the vice presidential debate—close to three times the number of students who had received tickets at previous debates.
