I’ve always been intimidated by the idea of canvassing. No matter how much I’ve supported political candidates in the past, whether on a national or local level, I’ve just never felt informed enough to knock on someone’s door and convince them to share my opinion.

Social Programming Board announced Wednesday that after intense negotiations, it has reached a compromise regarding the canceled fall 2016WILD and the campus-hosted presidential debate.

Student Life’s decision to profile the prominent candidates for president was a terrific way to inform Washington University students—most of whom may soon be voting for the first time—of their options. But the tones of the profiles have been at times disappointing and potentially damaging to our reputation as a university.

As the saying goes, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. With the current field of Republican candidates, a corollary certainly holds true: truth is funnier than fiction.
