In its first road dual meet of the season, the Washington University swimming-and-diving team came up short against the University of Chicago Saturday. The women’s team won six of 16 events, falling 157-139 in the total point count. Junior Luke Dobben was the lone event winner for the men’s team, swimming a season-best 4:43.72 time in the 500-yard freestyle.
Toppling a Division I opponent certainly didn’t constitute a bad start to the season for the Washington University women’s swim team, which defeated Saint Louis University Friday at the Millstone Pool. The 129.5-104.5 victory was the first for the Wash. U. women against SLU in 23 years.
Competing at the highest stage of the season, the Washington University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams knew that it was their time see their hard work pay off and bring pride to the Red and Green.

From Wednesday through Saturday, the Washington University men’s and women’s swimming teams competed in the 2012 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship, the final meet of the season. The Bears’ hard work and determination paid off as Wash. U. competed well in Indianapolis, Ind., bringing home several All-America honors and personal and season-best times.
