Men’s basketball survives upset scare, record now 8-0

Trinity (0-7 record) mounted a furious comeback that fell just short after a jumper from Wash. U. junior guard Luke Silverman-Lloyd broke a 75-75 tie with 31 seconds left, giving the Bears (8-0) a 79-77 win on Saturday at the Field House.

Led by tournament MVP Aboona, men’s basketball wins Lopata Classic

In the 30th annual Lopata Classic, the No. 11 Washington University men’s basketball team won a pair of home games over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Whitman College to improve to 4-0 on the season. On Friday night, the Bears rallied for a 94-74 victory over Rose-Hulman (0-1) in a fast-paced offensive contest.

Bears upset IWU to win Lopata Classic Championship

Maybe it was all in the mustaches. With four of five starters still sporting their looks from No-shave November, the No. 10 Washington University men’s basketball team remained undefeated after a 67-57 win over No. 7 Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, claiming its 13th-straight victory in games in the Lopata Classic.

Men’s basketball takes fifth straight with win over No. 17 Wheaton

After shocking No. 1 Augustana College last weekend, the Washington University men’s basketball team upset another ranked opponent on Saturday, defeating No. 17 Wheaton College 77-68 at home. The victory was the Bears’ fifth in a row, continuing a hot streak that began on Nov. 26 against Principia College. Wash. U.

Bears snap losing streak with two wins to start opening homestand

This year’s 27th Annual Lopata Classic featured the classic match-up of the 21st century—U.S.A. versus China. The Washington University men’s basketball team (3-3) defeated Tsinghua University, from Beijing, China, 80-70 on Friday, Dec. 3, and then defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 66-57 on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Bears end road trip on three game losing streak

The Washington University men’s basketball team (2-3) fell to Augustana College and Hanover College in its final two games of a five-game, season-opening road trip. The Bears lost 78-55 to Augustana College in a top-25 matchup on November 22, and fell 56-52 to Hanover College on November 28.
