Christine Dolan hired as new campus LGBT coordinator

Washington University’s third Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Coordinator in four years hopes to continue the work of her two predecessors in the leadership role. When Michael Brown left the position in September 2009, the difficulty securing his replacement meant that the University spent most of the 2009-10 year without an official LGBT coordinator.

University support of charitable organization raises questions

Washington University is encouraging its students, faculty and staff to donate to the United Way of Greater St. Louis, a philanthropic organization that supports social-service agencies. The groups that the United Way of Greater St. Louis supports include the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), an organization with a strict anti-homosexual policy.

Don’t be afraid to become an ally

Everyone has friends and family who are queer—or, more precisely, LGBTQIA: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, queer, questioning, intersex or asexual. For that reason, we all have a personal stake in being Allies, people who openly support safety, equality and acceptance for sexual minorities.
