WU announces commitment to reporting, supporting KIPP students

Washington University has clarified its role as a sponsor, and now partner, with KIPP public charter schools, as the University announced it will actively search for qualified KIPP students who otherwise may not have known of opportunities offered at the University.

As a leading institution in research and academics, Washington University has become well-known for having brilliant professors and students both nationally and globally. While the University continues to spread its name, beautify the campus with renovations and constructions, and strengthen its programs, Wash. U.

University to host college prep program for underserved students

Washington University plans to launch a pre-college preparatory program for high school students in the St. Louis area this summer. The program, organized by Leah Merrifield, assistant vice chancellor for community engagement, will house 20 rising high school sophomores on the University campus and offer the students programming intended to prepare them for college.

Increase ThurtenE’s charitable impact

This carnival is undoubtedly one of both the nation’s oldest and the University’s most treasured traditions. It is a fun event that brings the University together with its alumni and the St. Louis community at large. It is also meant to be a philanthropic endeavor that benefits a St. Louis non-profit long after the facades disappear. In recent years, however, the charitable emphasis of ThurtenE has taken a backseat to facade building.

WU sponsors, sends tutors to St. Louis charter school

A Washington University-sponsored charter school in South St. Louis opened its doors over the summer to its first class of 90 fifth-graders.
