Responding to student backlash, WU adds third wellness day to spring calendar, moves up start date

After students objected to the replacement of Spring Break with two nonconsecutive “wellness days,” Washington University announced a revised spring calendar that included two consecutive wellness days and one additional wellness day, Dec. 3.

Wrighton names McLeod’s successors

Chancellor Mark Wrighton announced Washington University’s new Dean of Arts & Sciences and new Vice Chancellor for Students on Thursday.
The University has been working since September to fill the positions previously held by late James McLeod who passed away on the 6th of that month.

WU professor adds color to Egypt’s past

Jennifer Smith, associate professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Washington University, recently found a sample of alum in the Dakhleh Oasis in the Eastern Sahara. After working with the material, she was able to link it to blue paint that was found in Egyptian pottery during the New Kingdom.
