Men’s and women’s soccer teams defeat Fontbonne on Tuesday

On Tuesday evening, the Washington University men’s and women’s soccer teams both shut out their Wydown Boulevard rival, Fontbonne University. The women dominated the Griffins by a 2-0 score, while the men were able to convert late in the game and push to a 1-0 win.

Over a hundred Washington University and Fontbonne University students came together Saturday to participate in a capture the flag match between the two student bodies, with Fontbonne leaving as the victor in the competition.

Women’s basketball wins Wydown Showdown with ease

Fewer than five minutes into its road game at Fontbonne University, Washington University’s women’s basketball team had already built an 11-1 lead and forced the host Griffins into calling a timeout. Softball wins two of three games over weekend

The Washington University softball team won two of three games this weekend with a 4-0 win over Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday and a 5-4 win and 7-6 heartbreaking loss to Fontbonne University on Sunday.

Softball splits double-header against Monmouth despite injury

Normally, a Washington University softball senior’s college career ends with the final out in May, but senior Ally Berenter’s career end came in April. Berenter was hit in the face by a ball while doing defensive drills during practice last Wednesday. The fluke injury required her to fly home for surgery over the weekend.

WU and St. Louis prepare to host NCAA volleyball championships

While the Washington University women’s volleyball team has been a fixture in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship for years, this year marks the first time since 1992 that the final rounds of the playoffs will be held at the Wash. U. Field House.
As part of the NCAA Championship City pilot program, created to help cities provide a more enjoyable championship experience for both student-athletes and fans, Wash. U. will partner with neighbor Fontbonne University and the St. Louis Sports Commission to host the finals this year, as well as in 2011.

Women’s soccer coasts to win over Fontbonne

The Washington University women’s soccer team recorded another shutout Saturday evening against Fontbonne University, as the Bears defeated the Griffins 7-0.
“It feel pretty awesome to have another shutout,” junior Lee Ann Felder said. “We always really want to have a shutout when we play at home, so it feels great.”
