This past weekend, the oldest a cappella group on Washington University’s campus celebrated its 30th anniversary with bagpipes, 50 Cent melodies and fireworks greeting viewers at the exit of Jammin’ Toast, The Pikers’ biggest concert of the year.
The Mosaic Whispers, Washington University’s oldest co-ed a cappella group, may be coming to live television.
With the cast of Glee and their catchy show tunes springing to the spotlight, it seems odd that out of Washington University’s many a capella groups, not one has focused on Broadway show music—until now. A new a capella group, GhostLights, came together in the spring of last year and its members are dedicated to singing exclusively songs from the theater.
The Aristocats, the all-Disney campus a capella group, and friends performed a spontaneous rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” to celebrate the upcoming release of Toy Story 3 on June 18, 2010.
