Men’s Tennis Loses Season Opener

The No. 3 Washington University men’s tennis team started its season with a loss to Division II No. 29 Drury University on Saturday, Feb. 6. Senior John Watts beat Roman Gonda 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while junior Max Woods earned a three-set victory at No. 3 singles over Garcia Santos, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Watts paired with freshman Kareem Farah in an 8-6 victory over Alex Kacamakis and Ivan Maveric in doubles play. Watts’s victories over the weekend brought him to 197 for his career. Currently just three wins shy of 200, Watts would be the first player in school history to achieve that benchmark.
