Dining Services wants dinners to dazzle with new themes
Dining Services is looking to introduce fun dining options for students on campus in the future.
These include several events coming up this semester. Dining Services will host a Dr. Seuss themed dinner in Bear’s Den on April 4. The event will feature culinary concoctions including green eggs and ham. The event will also feature two Dr. Seuss readings by WUSLam, the student slam poetry group.
The following week, Dining Services will host a Village People Party in The Village Café, which will feature music by the band, dinner specials and ’70s trivia.
According to Bon Appétit Resident District Manager Nadeem Siddiqui, dining services is pushing these themed dinners in an effort to introduce more fun into students’ daily lives.
“We love our students. I know that for students this is the most stressful time, so we try to force some more fun time, to have a break and enjoy the experience,” he said.
Dining Services intends to hold an event in every major dining facility on campus.
Earlier in the year, Dining Services hosted a cook-off in the DUC.
Students are enthusiastic about the upcoming events.
“I’m very pro-food-oriented events on campus, I think generally Bon Appétit does a very good job taking into account what people like to eat,” junior Julia Wong said.
Still some students are not sure that the events will have a good turnout.
I think it’s a really good idea, [but] regardless of if it’s a good idea I have a lot of things to do. I feel like not many students will go out of their way for it. I think I’ll look out for it…but I can’t promise I’ll go,” freshman Aliza Jaffe said.
In addition to the events that are already planned, dining services is looking for suggestions from students for future events.
