‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ Live

| Cadenza Reporter

Powell Symphony Hall

Friday and Saturday: 7 p.m.
Sunday: 2 p.m.
Price: $40 and up

Middle Earth is going live this weekend! The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, in conjunction with guest conductor Erik Ochsner, the St. Louis Symphony Chorus and the St. Louis Children’s Choirs will perform Howard Shore’s Oscar-winning score for “The Fellowship of the Ring” in real time while the movie plays behind them. It is an endeavor matched in ambition only by the film itself. The SLSO has some experience scoring epic fantasy movies; they previously performed individual pieces from both the Star Wars and Harry Potter franchises, but this weekend’s performance will span the entire film. Seats are limited so hurry over to slso.org to reserve your tickets which, while pricey, will surely satisfy any orch dork. SLSO LOTR FTW.
