Bear’s Grill

Kate Gaertner

How do you feel about the new Bear’s Grill in South 40 House?

Do you love the vegetables in your pasta? Hate the lack of seating? How do you feel about the Henry Ford-esque assembly line? Love the fancy new menu items? Miss pretending to bond with any of your favorite employees? Comment!

  1. First thought when I saw the new South 40 House/Umrath: “where do I catch the monorail to Tomorrowland?” The place looks like Disneyworld!

    Bear’s Grill specific opinions:

-1 pretentious points to Bon Appetit for the “Three Cheese Melt.” Just call it a grilled cheese, seriously.
+1 pretentious points to Bon Appetit/Wash U for NOT spelling Grill as “Grille.” I know it was tempting, and I commend their moral courage in rising above it.

Also, the reuben is on “Swirled Rye?” Do you mean Marbled Rye?

  2. I can’t say I’ve actually been there yet, but does anyone else notice the weird resemblance to the name of British adventurer and Man vs. Wild star Bear Grylls?

I can’t tell if that bodes poorly or well for the restaurant itself.
