Washington University football ended the 2007 campaign with a 30-20 victory against Greenville College. An effective running game and an explosive passing game provided 24 points, and Junior Tommy Bawden scored on a 100 yard interception return, tying a school record set in 1948.

Wash U. quarterback Buck Smith ended his first full season as starting quarterback one a high note. He was 15-26 for 226 yards and two touchdowns, both to senior wide receiver Matt Koenigsknecht.

The defense gave up two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter and surrendered 31 first downs, but for the first time in three weeks, Wash U won the turnover battle, a formula that has provided a win every time this season.

With a record of 7-3 (1-2 UAA) the Bear’s finished the season with one more win than last season, and they will look to continue this trend next season.
