Coming off one of their most impressive weekends of the season, the men and women’s basketball teams will look to continue their success this weekend in two away games. The teams will play Case Western Reserve University on Friday and Emory University on Sunday.

Last weekend, the Bear team each revenged their defeat to Rochester University while winning for the second time of the season against Brandeis University. The men’s victory came in shocking fashion; Rochester had been top-ranked and was previously undefeated on the season.

Case Western’s women’s team heads into the game with an 8-12 record and are 4-5 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The University’s women’s team has beaten Case Western’s in all 21 of their games. Their men’s program is 4-16 on the season and 2-7 in UAA play and has lost to the Bears in all 17 of their meetings. Emory also resides in the cellar of the UAA. Their women’s team is 6-12 on the season and 1-8 in UAA play. The women’s team has beaten Emory in their last 11 meetings. Their men’s team is not faring much better. They are 8-11 overall and 3-6 in UAA play. The Bears lead their all time series with Emory 27-6.

Both Bears teams head in to action this weekend sitting high in the UAA ladder. The women’s team is in a four-way tie for first with Rochester, New York University (NYU), and Brandeis at 7-2. The women are 17-3 on the season. The men’s team currently stands in second place in the UAA with a 7-2 record in conference play. They trail only Rochester overall. The men’s team is 15-5 overall for the year.

A clearer picture of the women’s conference race should emerge this weekend as Rochester will travel to Brandeis and NYU. Both the men and women’s teams will play their last five games against conference foes.

Tip-off for the women’s team is 6 p.m. (EST) in their game against Case Western. The men will follow by playing at 8 p.m. They will then head to Atlanta to take on Emory. Game time is 1 p.m. for the men and 3 p.m. for the women. The Bears will return home the following weekend to take on Brandeis and NYU.
