Coach K’s Key Play

Sprint Out

*The defense tries to double cover Brad Duesing (80) on the strong side of the field.

*Nathan Szep (4), sprints out to the right, and the safety is drawn away by the inside receiver, leaving the outside receiver in single coverage.

*They weren’t ready for us to go to Scott Armul (23), so we stunned them a little bit and got a big gain of 25 yards.

Coach K’s Keys to beating University of Chicago:

1. Pressure Chicago’s QB: “We have to get in their quarterback’s face and make him throw some balls that he doesn’t want to throw. He will take some sacks if he doesn’t see anyone open.”

2. Win the battle of special teams: “On special teams, we have to convert, and our return units have to put us in a good position to score.”

3. Run, run, run: “As always, on offense we have to run the football. You try to get into a good rhythm on offense, but it’s very tough if the running game is unsuccessful.”
