Hello. I’m the manager of YOUR BOYS. Hope everyone had a good draft last night. It was fun. Some small technical errors but fun. Please feel free to offer any trades my way. I’m an active owner and this should be fun if everyone stays active. That’s the key. If you don’t think you can win, stick with it. Or, if you really stink, try to break ESPN records. They have a hall of fame for ESPN showing the daily records for every category. As far as my team goes, I’d like to add a little more speed and improve my starting pitching. I have a few extra closers to trade, so feel free to send a trade offer my way. I look
forward to a good season. Get on the Bulletin Board. And stay active, you paid real money for this team!

I would do Sasaki and Berkman for Jones. Or Sasaki for Park. Or Sasaki, Berkman and Cirillo for Jones, Park and Chavez.

Jack – You do have a number of starting pitchers though. Of course I like Mussina, Park and Kevin Brown. I’m also interested in Andruw Jones and Preston Wilson. We may be able to work out some package involving any of these players.

How about one of your other two real good pitchers?

-(4/05/01, 7:48 a.m.)
From YOUR BOYS:
Jack- I understand your value system. I wouldn’t trade Brown for a closer. My thinking was, you have Brown, Park, Mussina and Dempster. Yet, you are punting saves so far. What will work better for you? Keeping Mussina and finishing in the top three in pitching and last in saves. OR trading Mussina, finishing in the top three in saves and in the middle of the pack of closers. So value or not, I believe you could stand to add the saves. No matter how good any one player is, you need a complete team competing in 10 categories. I believe Nen to be worth every bit of Park or Mussina regardless of your needs. His ERA and WHIP matched Pedro’s. Yes, it was over a considerably less number of innings, but he was the most dominant closer in baseball last year. “The Pedro of closers” one might say. At least he was the “Kevin Brown” of closers. But I’m not asking for Brown. And I have other options. It’s not laughable. No way should you have taken Kevin Brown with the second overall pick. Now that’s laughable, especially now after he’s hurt. Randy Johnson would have given you an extra 150 K’s over Brown. Big mistake.
I’m happy to talk with you, but you value my stud closers less than your stud pitchers, and I value my closers more than your lesser players. If you’re interested, at least make some kind of offer. You expressed interest but haven’t made any proposals.
Good luck and I’m glad you’re active. I wish this league would heat up a little bit.

(FLB ’01) – You’re right behind me in the standings. But Wells and Fassero aren’t going to help you crawl out of the cellar in saves. How far can you afford to fall behind in that category? You’re going to have to give up one of your four stud starters to pick up saves. It’s a given that you or the team with Pedro will finish 1-2 in ERA and WHIP. But right now, it’s a given you will finish last in saves.
