MUSIC MOST IMPORTANT PART OF W.I.L.D.

To the Editor:

Friday, Saturday-I don’t think it really matters what day it’s on. Especially in light of the other important aspect of W.I.L.D.: duh, the music.
Is nobody else bothered by the fact that Team31 is spending an absurd amount of money on a bunch of bands that absolutely suck?? I don’t know if anyone at Team31 had a chance to listen to Crazy Town’s CD, but let me assure you of this: it is even more cartoonish, misogynistic, and offensive than any band, let alone rap-metal band, you could think of (even Limp Bizkit). “Butterfly,” their latest hit single, is merely a pop facade for their underlying buffoonery (guess they fooled you guys). Team31 has gotten a bad (and sometimes unfair) rap for their band choices in the past, but considering the ever-increasing amount of money these guys are getting, this year’s crud lineup is an absolute travesty and an insult to the intelligence and musical taste of this campus. And I agree with Ramon-I mean, Taylor Upchurch: Team31 booking these modern rock mooks is equivalent to a rich man buying a high-priced escort to show her off, just because he has the money to do so.
And I’m afraid whoever’s judging CS40’s “Sounds of the Swamp” isn’t much better. So a band that’s been described as sounding like Dave Matthews Band won. Gee, that’s an original sound that we’ve *never* heard before on a college campus. Sheesh. Please, people. Get some taste before you kill us all with bad music.
