Den of Slack

Molly Antos

Sometimes, it becomes completely unnecessary to do anything constructive. What I mean is, that this is the last chance you’ll ever have to be irresponsible. You had the same license in high school, but back then, for me at least, I was too worried about disappointing my parents and growing up.

Here’s the thing: I’m at the perfect point in my life because I have just enough responsibilities to prepare me for the real world, but not so many that I can’t slack off sometimes and get away while feeling sufficiently rebellious.

“They” were right. College is the best time of your life. I’m not saying we should all throw up our hands, move onto the couch and pray for a “Clarissa Explains It All” marathon. The “I’m young and stupid” excuse only stretches so far before it snaps. It is a GREAT time, however, to take things just a little less seriously than they should be taken.

So, eat a burrito at 2:39 a.m. even though you know it will cause the worst food hangover ever. Watch “Shark Tale” on WUTV one more time even though it’s late and you have early class. Quit your job because you don’t feel like showing up. Write a crappy and shamelessly fluffy column instead of a staff editorial because you’re the Senior Forum Editor and you can. Oh, and make sure that it’s as short as possible.

I also wanted to say that I’m Molly Antos, and I’m the new Senior Forum Editor. I would also like to promise you that next year, Forum will become more structured and I will start taking my position more seriously. Unfortunately, I don’t really know that to be true, so just keep reading the paper anyway. Please.
