NEW MUSIC VIDEO: “Yet Again” by Grizzly Bear

Thursday, September 27th, 2012 | kaylahollenbaugh1

Brooklyn-based indie rock band Grizzly Bear released their latest video today. The song is “Yet Again”, taken from their most recent album “Shields”. Directed by Emily Kai Block, the video follows a struggling and depressed figure skater through a hazy, blue-tinged journey of ice rinks, pools and suburbia. The song perfectly complements the video’s tone, as lead singer Edward Droste’s muted vocal meanderings assist the trancelike feel, all leading up to the climax.

TRAILER REACTION: I’m Fracking Matt Damon

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012 | Georgie Morvis

Watch the trailer yourself here.

So, Matt Damon and Frances McDormand work for Wall Street and are trying to buy up Main Street huh? In all seriousness though, we all know what’s going to happen in this, everyone will come together and unite for the planet because obviously, while Matt Damon gets his girl. I kind of wish Damon was just playing a complete a-hole who wants to watch the city burn while harvesting their natural gas. Still, I’ll go to any movie where Damon does anything realizes his moral failings and strives to be a better person. More good news: Damon reunited with Gus Van Sant (who directed “Good Will Hunting”). I’m excited that Hollywood made a movie about fracking, let’s just hope it doesn’t get too sappy.

NEW MUSIC POST: Lana Del Rey – Ride

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012 | Georgie Morvis

The always polarizing Lana Del Rey released the lead single for the rerelease of her album Born to Die (our review). It’s called “Ride,” and it’s a slow-burner (like most Lana songs) with an absolutely breathtaking string section. It’s giving me serious “Read My Mind” by the Killers vibes.Basically, it’s perfect for fall.

Harry Potter Nostalgia

Monday, September 24th, 2012 | Georgie Morvis

Are you missing Harry Potter? I know I live in pretty much a constant state of Post-Potter Depression. But good news is here: J.K. Rowling’s new book comes out tomorrow. Sure, it’s not about Harry Potter, but it’s from Rowling, so it’s got to be good. It’s titled The Casual Vacancy. The New Yorker did a great profile on her. Check it out!

CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT: Ed Sheeran at the Pageant.

This is great news. Ed Sheeran is a brilliant singer-songwriter who hails from the U.K. Here’s my favorite song by him. It’s a little depressing, but manages to be extremely catchy.
