SU Treasury funds John Legend, Sofia Vergara, Amy Chua in front of a packed, emotional audience

Student Union Treasury voted to allocate $105,569 to bring musician John Legend, actress Sofia Vergara and law professor Amy Chua to campus in a meeting flooded by over 100 students Tuesday night. Volleyball sweeps home tournament, ranked opponents

Facing a 16-20 deficit in the second set against No. 6 Christopher Newport University (CNU), Washington University women’s volleyball head coach Rich Luenemann called a timeout and asked his team for some focus. From there, the Bears took over the match and ended the set the way they ended every set of the weekend—with a victory.

Renovations give fresh face to campus

Students returning to Washington University this fall will find a number of changes on campus, due to both completed and ongoing construction projects. One new building, Green Hall, is almost complete. Renovation projects have been completed on several buildings, and the University has started to renovate Umrath Hall.

Campus mourns recent grad killed in accident

Emily Dunn, 23, dedicated herself to the Washington University community as a student, and when she graduated in May, she had a bright future at SuperFly Presents, an event production company which would enable her to work in a sector she felt passionate about: the music industry. Her vibrant life was cut short on Friday when she was struck by a bus in San Francisco, the city in which she was working.

W.I.L.D. date set for mid-September

W.I.L.D. will take place on Friday, September 16, Team 31 announced via Facebook and Twitter. W.I.L.D., or Walk In Lay Down, a concert that takes place once a semester, is earlier this year than in the past. Bonser throws no-hitter as Bears sweep Fontbonne

Sophomore Stephen Bonser threw a no-hitter in the second game of a double-header against Fontebonne University on Sunday. Bonser had a perfect game through five innings, but it was broken up by a fielding error in the sixth.

WUPD reports second burglary from unlocked room

A resident of the Thomas Eliot House reported the burglary of a laptop from an unlocked dorm room on Friday. The computer went missing from between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. This is the second such burglary to happen this month. On April 13, a resident of Millbrook reported the theft of his computer and notebook while his apartment was empty.
