51st SU Exec looks to improve accessibility, communication

The 51st Student Union executive board outlined their goals for the upcoming year—organizing them according to the guiding principles of empowerment, outreach and accessibility—in an all-school email sent out Monday.

Despite only two of five Student Union executive positions being contested, a record-breaking 47 percent of students voted in Tuesday’s elections, breaking the previous record of 41.1 percent from spring 2012.

When students vote this Tuesday, they will have the opportunity to decide how they want their student government to function moving forward, specifically in response to actions and a culture created in the past year.

CS40 creates Opportunity Fund to offer financial support

Congress of the South 40 passed legislation for an Opportunity Fund that allows students to request money to attend CS40-sponsored events. The fund comes as a result of a joint effort with Student Union to make participating in activities more feasible from students from low-income backgrounds.

New CS40 Exec hopes to increase visibility

Freshmen Kyle Jeter and Daniel Grossman prevailed Friday in contested elections for Congress of the South 40 speaker and director of finance, respectively.

Jeter narrowly edged out freshman Natty Bernstein, garnering 51.5 percent of the vote to Bernstein’s 47.6 percent.
