At its annual Battle of the Bands competition Saturday, Congress of the South 40 revealed band Timeflies as the headliner for the April 7 WUStock concert.

CS40 creates Opportunity Fund to offer financial support

Congress of the South 40 passed legislation for an Opportunity Fund that allows students to request money to attend CS40-sponsored events. The fund comes as a result of a joint effort with Student Union to make participating in activities more feasible from students from low-income backgrounds.

Congress of the South 40 hosted its second annual Bear’s Den Appreciation Week—a week of students celebrating the Bear’s Den staff—from Feb. 20 through Feb. 24, incorporating a community service component and providing students with information about unionization efforts for the first time.

Comedian, CNN host talks about race through humor in CS40 speech

College Hall was almost entirely filled as W. Kamau Bell, a socio-political comedian and host of CNN’s “United Shades of America,” delivered a talk on racism Wednesday night. Right away, Bell warned the audience that the talk was not going to be comfortable or filled with race buzzwords.

Freshmen Kyle Jeter and Daniel Grossman prevailed Friday in contested elections for Congress of the South 40 speaker and director of finance, respectively.

Jeter narrowly edged out freshman Natty Bernstein, garnering 51.5 percent of the vote to Bernstein’s 47.6 percent.
