BORNS to headline 2016 WUStock concert on South 40

Pop artist BORNS will perform at WUStock in April, Congress of the South 40 announced on Monday. CS40 revealed the name of the artist by placing large letters in the grass west of Olin Library.

Aasif Mandvi, an Indian-American comedian known for appearances on “The Daily Show” and HBO’s comedy series “The Brink,” discussed his new book “No Land’s Man” and the representation of minorities in Hollywood at the annual Congress of the South 40-sponsored lecture on Oct. 29.

CS40 candidates advocate for better communication

Candidates for Congress of the South 40 elections have focused on raising student awareness about the organization and improving its operations in their campaign platforms. CS40 elections opened Wednesday and close at 5 p.m. Thursday. Election results will be posted Friday on the CS40 website.

Highly anticipated premiere kicked off with Hunger Games simulation

Of the 18 students competing in Washington University’s month-long, freshman class Hunger Games tournament, one finally emerged victorious less than 24 hours before the school-wide Hunger Games Premier Party Thursday night. Eric Bishop, representing Beaumont Dorm, won the competition and 20 free tickets to the Hunger Games movie premier.

Emulate CS40 when planning a campus-wide event

For those of you who didn’t attend WUStock on Saturday, the atmosphere for headlining band Matt & Kim’s concert was electric. The crowd was engaged, the band was engaged and the South 40 became the place to spend Saturday afternoon. The Congress of the South 40 should be applauded for its planning and execution of the event.
