Washington University’s annual ThurtenE Carnival will be held in its original location near Francis Field April 11-13 and will feature a visit from Food Network’s show, “Carnival Eats.”

For this year’s ThurtenE Carnival, Beta Theta Pi and Kappa Delta, paired for the first time in the construction of a facade, have decided to redefine the purpose behind their fundraising and take a tangible approach toward making an impact within the community.

ThurtenE mixes nostalgia with modern tech

Although this year’s ThurtenE theme centered on the past and nostalgia of the event, the carnival saw new developments, with ThurtenE Honorary releasing a mobile app to guide visitors. This year’s theme, “Endless Discovery: Explore the Tradition,” was intended to remind attendees of the history behind the oldest student-run carnival—or, as it was once known, “Younivee Surrkuss”—in the country. Although the honorary ordinarily hands out advertisement books, it introduced a smartphone application for 2014’s carnival.

ThurtenE Carnival chooses St. Louis children’s charity

ThurtenE honorary has decided to donate its proceeds from this weekend’s carnival to the Belle Center. This charity assists children with developmental delays and disabilities, as well as their families. The center focuses on helping these children to be included in their home communities, according to its website.

ThurtenE Honorary prepares for change in carnival location

ThurtenE Carnival, which will occur the weekend of April 18 and 19, has been moved this year to Brookings Drive, the grassy median in front of Brookings Hall. This is a break from previous years, when the carnival was held in the parking lot closest to Whitaker Hall.
