Adult members of the GOP muscled their way with big McCain-Palin signs through a large student crowd gathered behind MSNBC's live broadcast from Graham Chapel.
Members of the group said they were volunteers from Illinois, but would not give details about how they gained access to campus.
"They were just pushing their way from the back, freshman Jed Jackoway said. "It was just obnoxious."
Other students echoed Jackoway's response. "They don't even go here," junior Lauren Botteron said. "We have makeshift signs. They have big poles."
The demonstrators defended their actions. "I just want to support Palin," Linda Scheaffer of Ill. said. "I think she was a wonderful choice for vice president.

Funny, last time I checked, most American citizens were eligible to vote and participate in the election, not just those privileged to attend an elite institution (of which I am an alumni). Oh, and I think they still have the right to free speech to -- big poles and all!

I heard that Palin was going to have an earpiece to give her answers if she wears her hair down. Look to keep them honest as this would be corruption. We'll see if the repubs try and pull off a fast one. I don't trust them. If she can't answer questions on her own, she doesn't deserve to be the candidate, much less the VP.

I remember 4 years ago (way back when I was a student at Wash U) during the week of the presidential debate, the exact same thing happened. Lots of Republican (Bush) supporters came out of nowhere with obnoxiously large signs and pushed through crowds whenever a tv camera was rolling. Not much of a surprise I guess...
