Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life position filled by Leaders in Interpersonal Violence advisor

Austin Sweeney, a sexual and relationship violence prevention specialist and advisor to the Leaders in Interpersonal Violence Education student group, has been named as the new assistant director for fraternity and sorority life, effective Sept. 5.

Associate Director for Campus Life Stephanie Weiskopf announced Sweeney’s hiring in an email sent to all Greek chapter presidents earlier this morning.

“In this role, [Sweeney] will implement Fraternity/Sorority community wide programming and initiatives, develop policies and infrastructure to better support the Fraternity/Sorority experience, oversee recruitment and expansion efforts for all Councils, advise Women’s Panhellenic Association, and other initiatives that contribute to a values-based fraternal experience at [Washington University],” the email read.

Sweeney replaces Weiskopf, who had been filling the position in an interim role following the departure of former assistant director David Stetter from the University in June. Sweeney will be leaving his previous role at the University, a position as a prevention specialist in the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Center.
