Christopher I. Byrnes, a former dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University, died earlier this week in Stockholm, Sweden.
Byrnes served as the dean of engineering from 1991-2006. He was also the Edward H. and Florence G. Skinner Professor Emeritus of Systems Science and Mathematics. He was in Sweden this academic year as a guest professor at the Royal Institute of Technology.
