(charities?) Note on page seven the "inside-out" provision, banning smoking on patios AFTER business owners spend thousands to build them for their smoking customers, clearly showing that they have ABSOLUTLY NO CONCERN for local issues or businesses. Also note on the last page, they are instructed to keep returning every year until ALL exemptions, are gone. These smoking bans will probably go down in history as one of the greatest marketing scams ever by having drug companies using tax exempt political action committees calling themselves “charities”.

Yet St. Louis seems to think that this ban is going to end the world? I am very much for the ban, yet the bill really does not do that much of banning. Places that do not make their profits from alcohol are the places I never leave smelling like an ash tray! As far as bar owners being worried they may lose business, this is a terrible non-financial argument. Most of these bar tenders are simply upset because the reason they opened their bars was to give a haven to smokers and drinkers. If they studied the major cities that went to smoking bans they will see that if anything they will gain new customers. Fast Eddy's in Alton added a new out door section to their bar, which is packed all the time. Their sales have increased because so many non- bar goers go there because they can actually have a great night drinking without having to dry clean their clothes the next day. I am voting for the bill but still upset at the lack of action the bill actually does. Hopefully there are loopholes that allow for clubs, bars, and non public places to eventually be smoke free. Paris, France the home of the stereotypical French smoker banned smoking in all bars! Here is to a cleaner less smelly future for St. Louis. The tax exempt American Cancer Society tricked the voters of Ohio into voting for a ban with exemptions, only to have them removed AFTER they were voter approved. If they got away with it once, you know they will do it again. Thank you American Cancer Society, we never knew all you do. The private vets clubs of Ohio who thought they were exempt according to the ballot learned what they do.
