Behind Executive Committee restructuring

Student Union will vote this week on Executive Committee Restructuring this week, a proposal that has been in the works and under debate for months. Here are the basics of the proposal:

Creation of the Sports Club Board

Each member club appoints a representative to the Sports Club Board.

Vice-President of Finance allocates a comprehensive fund to the Sports Club which will be reflected on the General Budget.

Sports Club Board will allocate money to individual sports clubs.

Creation of the Equipment Committee

Becomes a standing committee of Treasury along with Budget and Student Groups Activities Committees and chaired by a Treasury representative.

Manages equipment purchased with SU operating funds and maintains a process for student groups to rent equipment.

Provides a central storing space for equipment for groups without storage space so equipment is not kept in personal rooms or lost and stolen. Groups that already have office spaces for storage will continue to maintain their own equipment.

Student groups can charge for the rental of equipment by a 2/3 majority vote.

Creation of the Social Programming Board

Plans large-scale programs that appeal to a large portion of the student body.

Representatives from the student body will be appointed to serve on board.
