Congratulations to Washington University's men's basketball team for bringing the school's fourth national title of the year and first-ever men's team title. The real question is: how many of you actually knew Wash. U. had won four titles this year? Most of you probably know that the volleyball team won a title in the fall, but sophomore John Watts won the men's singles tennis title in the fall, and senior Morgen Leonard-Fleckman won the indoor pole vault title over spring break. There's no need to throw out a scary statistic or admonish you to recycle or tell you to print on both sides of the paper to prevent waste. This is elementary. Most of us are cognizant of the multiple statistics that earn the United States the title of one of the most wasteful countries on the planet, and we also take the small steps necessary to "do our part" for the environment. In our staff editorial this past Monday, Student Life endorsed Jeff Nelson for the vice president of administration within Student Union because of his energy and absolutely incredible, detailed, tangible ideas for the student body. And I completely agree with that endorsement because of the ideas and the impressive commitment that Nelson has shown to the student body. (1) comment

There's still a lot to do before summer

Happy spring! Even though it's still been chilly out, I've been wearing my flip-flops for the last few days. As the weather gets warmer, I know everyone will start playing outside, studying in the sun and getting ready for the magnificent humidity of 90-degree days in St. Louis. (0) comments

We are all athletes. Every day a large proportion of students at Washington University participate in some form of exercise. Some head to the Athletic Complex to get in an intense game of racquetball or to pump some iron before class. Others, in intramural and club sports, use the AC facilities daily, flying up and down the court in IM basketball or rowing themselves into exhaustion on the ergs. (0) comments

Today's Song of the Day was a big hit for the Cure back in 1985. This is the single version, slightly different than the one from the album as it features a brass section.
