You obviously don’t understand that the characterization in those stories is focused on the survivors, not the ‘monsters’. Also, a zombie is not a villain in the classical horror film sense. They are not a singular, serious threat, but the situation presents a totally different type of horror. I’d be more worried if the whole world was going to shit, than if a guy was hacking people up at a lake in some other state. The threat presented in a zombie movie is that of the horde, or sheer numbers of them. It seems like you may have some other, unspoken bias. Probably because of the over-saturation of the genre recently; in that regard, I don’t blame you, but I do think you’re being unfair.
