The Washington University men’s and women’s track and field teams won the annual WashU Invite Meet this past weekend. The men won the meet with 183 points, while the women took care of business at their end with 236 points. The weekend’s major highlights were seniors Ella Behrens and Emily Konkus’s incredible record-breaking performances at the annual WashU Distance Carnival. 

“For me, being a national champion means that I showed up for my team on that day. And so I can’t really ask for anything more than that.” 

The WashU men’s and women’s track and field team took the 2023 UAA indoor titles home this past weekend. After a series of impressive performances, they earned the most points to cement their place as the Kings and Queens of UAA. 

The Bears scored 35 points to share the national championship alongside the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Kelley has won eight straight track heats in races ranging from 400 to 800 meters.

Both the men and women finished outside the top 10, as the men came 16th and the women 59th. 

The win allowed the Bears to continue building on a string of recent successes.

“I don’t think any athletes are being asked about what makes sense for us,” senior Julia Dannenbaum said. “It’s definitely disappointing.” 

The men’s team’s performance raised them 14 spots in the rankings, from No. 25 to No. 11, while the women fell two spots, from No. 10 to No. 12
