A change in ownership looks to alter the way Washington University students and Skinker-DeBaliviere residents think about coffee. Earlier this month, Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Co. assumed control of Kayak’s Coffee.
On its home floor, the Washington University women’s basketball team avenged last year’s loss to George Fox University in the NCAA title game with a 58-50 win over the No. 5 Bruins. With the win, the No. 6 Bears win their sectional final and advance to the semi-final game of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball tournament.
The Washington University women’s basketball team continued its recent postseason success with an 80-64 victory over No. 13 Thomas More College. With the win, the No. 6 Bears advance to the round of 16 of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament.
Fresh off a second place finish at the National Indoor Championships, the Washington University men’s tennis team took four of seven singles flights at the Principia College Invitational II and all three doubles flights. The tournament provided valuable playing time for the Wash. U. reserves and younger players, and the success at Principia highlighted the depth of the team.
Undergraduate and graduate students will transition to GO WUSTL e-mail accounts today, though Squirrelmail and other accounts will remain functional for the time being. The new e-mail service run by Windows Live provides online applications similar to Google documents, 25 GB of storage space, Windows Messenger and Outlook Live.
Sean Wallis graduated last May from the Olin Business School at Washington University with a BSBA in finance and accounting and will receive his master’s degree in finance at the end of this school year. After tearing his MCL and meniscus during the 2007-2008 season, Wallis received an extra year of eligibility and chose to play this year.
Come springtime, the large supply of tulips on campus will be nipped in the bud. As a part of a plan designed to reduce the Washington University maintenance and landscaping budget by at least 5 percent, the number of tulips on campus will be cut in half. The new plan will also reduce the number of on-call maintenance employees around the Danforth Campus, thereby producing a delay in response time.
The campus-wide tomato ban has taken another unexpected turn at Washington University after the Aramark Corporation offered to discontinue the sale of tomatoes on campus but lost backing from Students for Fair Trade.

The Washington University women’s basketball team ended a four-game losing streak against rival DePauw University Friday night before falling to No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. The 1-1 weekend was good enough for a second place finish at the annual Tip-Off Tournament, hosted this year by Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill.
