“Myths are public dreams, and dreams are private myths,” reveal the storytellers in the St. Louis Repertory Theatre’s “Metamorphoses.” The play is a performance of several of Greek myths, and cycles through two narrators: first the Roman poet Ovid, and then the modern day playwright Mary Zimmerman.
St. Germain – The best one-man deep house show in Paris
Bouelvard Reissue
by Jess Minnen
Originally released in 1995, Boulevard is testament to the fact that underground music is at least alive in France, if not alive and well. But if you tried to praise Ludovic Navarre, the mind behind St.
Many people carry the mental image of opera as something of a cross between Wagner and Bugs Bunny; corpulent, blonde pigtailed songbirds or dark Spanish beauties warbling about love amidst velvet curtains and lavish sets. But opera is a diverse art form, and this weekend Washington University Opera will be performing Francis Poulenc’s The Dialogues of the Carmelites.
As the clinging remains of spring break’s idleness are so cruelly stripped away, Edison Theatre’s OVATIONS! series has the perfect cultural cure to get students back into the world of academia: battlefields and a crazy monster island. This weekend, the touring British-American Aquila Theatre Company will be performing two separate plays on two separate nights-The Wrath of Achilles and The Tempest.

Last Sunday night I had the pleasure of catching Railroad Earth at Cicero’s, and the next time they roll into town, every B‚la Fleck, Jazz Mandolin Project, and Yonder Mountain String Band fan at Wash U had better be there.
Here’s how you know a band/album/song is completely off the mainstream radar: nobody who writes about it seems to know how to spell it. Most people have gotten the band name of Sigur R¢s right, but their album Ag‘tis Byrjun gets mangled by writers worldwide (the best my spellchecker can come up with is “Agate Bruno”).
Ekoostik Hookah
Seahorse
by Jess Minnen
koostik Hookah is a band that deserves to pass through the last layers of anonymity into the threshold of mainstream popularity. Let’s just hope they don’t.
