Women’s Basketball LAST GAME: Wash U 80, University of Chicago 57 TEAM NOTES: Senior guard Kelly Manning erupted for 25 points, six rebounds, and two assists to guide her team to the eighth consecutive University Athletic Association (UAA) championship. Brandeis, who had shared possession of first place with the Bears, dropped their most recent game against New York University, enabling the Bears to gain sole possession of first place.
Men’s Basketball Last game: Wash U 62, Rochester University 59 Team Notes: The Bears upended 20th-ranked Rochester on Friday night. Junior guard Scott Stone continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc as he drained 3 key three pointers in the game. Also, freshman sensation Troy Ruths continued to contribute in big numbers off the bench for the Bears.
Coming off solid wins against University Athletic Association (UAA) rival University of Rochester last weekend, the men’s and women’s basketball teams are gearing up for their final game of the season tomorrow against the University of Chicago. Last weekend, the men’s team (15-9, 7-6 UAA) upset 20th-ranked University of Rochester 62-59; the win was the 50th straight for the Bears when holding opponents under 60 points.
Men’s Basketball Last Game: Wash. U. 83, Case Western Reserve University 63 Team Notes: The Bears were 10 for 37 from beyond the arc, breaking a school record for most three-pointers attempted in a single game. Four Bears were in the double-digits in scoring.
Women’s Basketball: Last Game: Wash U 55, Brandeis University 59 Team Notes: Senior guard Kelly Manning scored a team-high 20 points and a pair of potentially game-winning free throws with a little more than a minute to play. However, Brandeis quickly bounced back and closed out the game in the last minute.
Women’s Basketball: Last Game: Wash U 55, New York University 63 Team Notes: The women’s game this Friday against New York University will be delay televised through Charter TV Cable Channel 3. The game is scheduled to be televised at 10 p.m. on Saturday. The game is also scheduled to re-air on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 10:30 p.m.
Women’s Basketball: LAST GAMES: Wash U 70, Brandeis 40; Wash U 55, NYU 63 TEAM NOTES: Senior guard Kelly Manning scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to upset the seventh-ranked Brandeis squad on the road. All of Manning’s points came from beyond the arc as she nailed six treys in the contest.
Women’s Basketball LAST GAME: Wash. U. 64, Carnegie Mellon 43 TEAM NOTES: The Bears have defeated the Tartans for the 23rd consecutive time. Senior Kelly Manning led the Bears with 15 points. The score at halftime was 40-14. Senior Hallie Hutchens scored 10 points to move past Angie Kohnen into 10th all time in scoring with 925 points.
