WU’s decision to suspend Beta Theta Pi from all campus operations and bar them from using their house on Fraternity Row marks the end of a sordid chapter in campus Greek life. The Betas were commonly associated with disruptive and lewd behavior. They feuded with other fraternities, sexually harassed students at parties, taunted the “Take Back the Night” marchers on the Row two years ago.

Call it Disney World, call it the happiest place on earth, call it whatever you want, but St. Louis is and will always be a sports town. True, St. Louisans and Midwesterners are nice people, but they are also diehard sports fans. They may applaud good play, they may pat the players on the back and say, “Get ‘em next time” when they fail, they may not throw batteries and beer bottles at opposing players, but they still love their teams.
