Since Feb. 1, the Orientation Office at Washington University has been under new leadership. Director Danielle Bristow and Assistant Coordinator Michelle Mulhair, the new leaders of the organization, have pushed for a more student-centered orientation program.

The Architecture Student Council used their annual Bauhaus party on Saturday for a purpose: to educate students about environmental issues in architecture.

Author and political commentator David Horowitz stirred emotions among the University audience Wednesday with his radical views on academic freedom. Horowitz, the second speaker in the fall Assembly Series, voiced his controversial opinions in regard to university education and the war on terror.
Dean of Students Justin Carroll made a special request of this year’s incoming freshman class–he asked them to complete an online alcohol education program called AlcoholEdu this summer. The Class of 2009 is the first class required to complete the personalized tutorial before arriving for orientation.
With jobs available through work-study positions, research opportunities, and campus services, Washington University will employ hundreds of students this year. Career Center director Mark Smith has not encountered a student looking for part-time employment who was unable to find a position.
