Softball

Last Games: Wash U. posted two victories over Benedictine University and the University of Chicago with scores of 12-4 and 2-1, respectively.

Team Notes: Sophomore pitcher Laurel Sagartz improved to 19-1 as she pitched seven strong innings to pick up the win. Sophomore left fielder Jamie Kressel drove in five runs against Benedictine. Senior first baseman Liz Swary went 3-for-3 in that game. Against Chicago, Kressel drove in both of the Bears’ runs to increase the Bears’ winning streak to 22 games.

Did You Know?: The Bears have now won 22 straight games.

Next Game: The Bears are scheduled to travel to Jacksonville, Illinois to square off against Illinois College on Friday, April 22nd at 4 p.m.

Women’s Tennis

Last Meet: Wash U. 9, Principia College 0

Team Notes: After finishing 2nd overall in the University Athletic Association tournament, the Bears swept Principia College on Tuesday. The Bears refused to drop a single set against their opponent. The Bears improved their season record to 9-8.

Next Meet: The Bears will get ready to participate in the NCAA Championships on May 7th and 8th.

Men’s Tennis

Last Meet: Wash U. 7, Maryville University 0

Team Notes: The Bears dropped just 15 games in all against Maryville. Every match was over in straight sets, as the Bears cruised to a 7-0 victory.

Next Meet: The Bears will travel to play against Kalamazoo College on Saturday, April 23rd at 9 a.m.

National Ranking: 17

Baseball

Last Games: Wash U. falls to Illinois Wesleyan by the score of 3-7.

Team Notes: Senior Dan Rieck hit his ninth home run of the season.

Did You Know: The Bears are just three wins away from tying their single season win record, which is 30. The Bears struck out a combined ten times against Illinois Wesleyan. Sophomore pitcher Dan McPheeters did all he could to keep the Bears close. He gave up 7 runs in 6.2 innings to pick up the loss.

Next Game: The Bears are scheduled to play against Webster College on Tuesday, April 26th at 2 p.m.

Track and Field

Last Meet: Both the women’s squad and the men’s squad finished 3rd at North Central Quad.

Team Notes: On the women’s side, freshman Megan Willie finished third in the 400-meter dash. Junior Laura Ehret and freshman Lisa Sudmeier finished first and second respectively in the 800-meter run. On the men’s side, sophomore Ryan Lester finished third in the 800-meter run. Junior Brennan Bonner finished second in the 1500-meter run.

Next Meet: Wash U. is set to host UAA Outdoor Championships on April 23rd and 24th.
