Bears try to move above .500

Bernell Dorrough

In an effort to improve upon their 2-2 standing, the Washington University men’s soccer team will travel to Elsah, IL today to take on Principia College. The Bears then head back to the friendly confines of Francis Field to compete against Wheaton College on Saturday.

The Bears are coming off of a 1-0 shutout loss to Rhodes College at the Rhodes College Invitational. Despite a plethora of offensive chances, the Bears were unable to put the ball in the back of the net. In the first match of the Invitational, the squad won a 1-0 overtime thriller over the University of the South.

Principia lost its last match 3-1 to perennial powerhouse Centre College. Principia holds an 0-3 record for the season and has managed just one goal in its three losses. Meanwhile, Wheaton, like the Bears, is 2-2 on the season. The Thunder is coming off of a 2-1 loss to Dominican University and has lost its past two matches.
