W.I.L.D. opening acts announced

Team 31 has confirmed that alternative rock band Under the Influence of Giants and rock musician Will Hoge will play alongside headliner George Clinton at Spring W.I.L.D.

“We feel like we have put together a great show and are happy to say that every act was requested by the student body,” said Team 31 co-chair Jordan Roberts in an e-mail to Student Life.

Team 31, the student union-funded group that organizes each semester’s concert, had previously announced George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars would be the main act for the concert, but their announcement on Tuesday was the first about the full lineup.

According to Roberts, the process of selecting the W.I.L.D. bands began with a survey of the student body. After analyzing the survey data, the group attempts to find a set of band that meets several criteria, including price, willingness to play for a private concert, status on tour and student interest.

“When we have this [set of bands], we try to pick artists that collectively fit our budget, are diverse, and are known for putting on great shows,” said Roberts.

A local rapper who goes by the name Saint Louis will open for the groups.
