Real-life ghost busters go to work in Brooklyn
A group of three Brooklyn, N.Y. residents have come together to investigate–and chase away–suspicious spirits that bother Brooklyn residents in the night. For $20 an hour, the three men offer to use their skills to search for spirits and other spooky infestations. The Associated Press reports that the men honed their skills by watching television shows like “Ghost Hunters.” So far, the organization, Brooklyn Ghost Investigations, has had one customer that called them in at 3:00 a.m. to chase out a number of apparitions.
Voters in two Vermont towns approve Bush indictment
Under measures approved by two small Vermont towns, President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney will need to avoid the towns Brattleboro and Marlboro in order to avoid arrest. The two towns voted on Tuesday on a resolution calling on the police to arrest the two leaders on charge of crimes against the Constitution. Voters in the two towns said they were voting to express frustration over the way in which the war in Iraq has been handled and the general direction the country has been heading.
Exploding thermos damages home
A design flaw in an old thermos caused a small explosion in the house of a family from Gentry, Mo. The Stanley thermos had been recalled in 2005 because of its weak handle; when the handle breaks, it can compromise the thermos’ vacuum seal and cause the explosive release of nontoxic charcoal powder. According to the Associated Press, the owner of the home says about $9,000 worth of damage was done and Stanley has offered to help compensate for the damage.
