Soccer, volleyball receive post-season berths

Washington University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams and volleyball team all received post-season bids, the NCAA announced this morning on their Web site.

The women’s soccer team will host first and second round action at Francis Field this Saturday and Sunday. Denison University (13-5-2) will play Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (19-2) at 11 a.m. Saturday while the 10th-ranked Bears (15-3) will face off against Webster University (16-4-1) at 1:30 p.m. The winners of each game will meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Earlier this year, Wash. U., the reigning UAA champions, defeated Webster, 3-0.

The men’s soccer team (13-4-2) will face Carthage College (13-6-2) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in Whitewater, Wis. The winner will play the victor of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (15-2-2)-Dominican University (16-3-1) match at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The volleyball team will travel to Kenosha, Wis. for regional play. The Red and Green (27-5) will first face Hanover College (23-10) Thursday at 1 p.m. Other teams in their region include the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (31-5), the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (24-12), the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (24-9), Calvin College (29-4), Carroll College (20-13), and host Carthage College (31-4). The winner of the region will advance to the elite eight, to be played in Bloomington, Ill. Nov. 15.
