KWUR rock show packs the Gargoyle

Jonah Weiss

Over 400 music fans packed the Gargoyle Saturday night as the campus radio station concluded KWUR Week with a punk rock show featuring The Suicide Machines (pictured above). The station sold more than 200 tickets to non-students before the show through online dealer Metrotix. Several hundred Washington University students also attended for free, simply by showing a WU ID card.

The event also featured performances by rock groups Sick of It All, The Distillers, Shai Hulud and Form Follows Failure. The show was part of the

station’s week-long effort to provide students with a free glimpse of some of the underground artists that it plays.

On Thursday at the KWUR Dance Show, lead man James Lumb of Electric Skychurch performed a solo routine, and friday night’s Hip Hop Show featured Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf.
