Talley to integrate off-campus students

Web Master

Since starting this fall as Washington University’s coordinator for off-campus living, Bart Talley has been faced with the challenge of integrating WU students and the neighboring community.
According to Talley, the position was created because more students are living off campus and the university owns more property in surrounding areas. He will serve as a contact person for off-campus students as well as the coordinator for many new programs for the off-campus community.
“The main goal of my position is to have educational programming for all off-campus students, whether they are undergraduate or graduate students,” said Talley. “It is designed to connect the students with the community and with each other.”
The educational programs will be designed specifically to enhance the off-campus living experience. Talley hopes to initiate programs that will aid students in their everyday lives.
Talley expressed his desire to bring students and the local community together by instituting integrated forms of programming. As part of this effort, Talley is planning to host a beautification project around the Delmar Loop, inviting students and members of the community to plant bulbs before winter. He is also planning social events for the students.
Two graduate students and four undergraduate community advisors (CA), who act as residential advisors for off-campus students, aid Talley in off-campus projects.
Talley received his Masters degree in College Student Personnel Administration at Central Missouri State University.
