Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Bears fans, Red Alert would like to congratulate the men’s basketball team on its national championship. We’d also like to thank the team for a great season and for providing us with an opportunity to follow along as history was made.

Along with the team, Red Alert would like to thank everyone who came out to games throughout the season and a special thanks to those “deafening” fans who made the trip to Virginia this weekend. The great turnout and amazing support for the men’s basketball team shows that athletics are a big part of this campus. Going to Salem was an amazing experience for all of us and something we will remember for years to come. We hope all of you who went will encourage others to continue this great showing of support for our athletic teams and we are confident that more opportunities to participate in this manner will occur in the near future. We are more proud than ever to call ourselves fans of the Red and Green.

Most importantly, Red Alert would like to thank some key members of the University for making this an unforgettable trip for everyone who was able to go: Dean of Students Justin Carroll, Vice Chancellor for Students Dean McLeod, Director of Athletics John Schael, Athletics Marketing and Promotions Coordinator Trevor MacDonald and the number one Bears fan, Chancellor Wrighton. In addition, we would like to thank our gracious chaperones: Mary Elliott, Lora Clark, Brittney Roetzel, and Dee Campanella (ResLife); Lucy Morlan (Greek Life); Mike Saxvik (Office of Student Activities); and Michael Chapin (Career Center). Student Life also deserves special thanks for its continued coverage of this record-setting season.

Red Alert hopes that the University can continue to build new traditions and support all the brilliant teams here. We still have spring sports coming up, so stay connected for those events, and let’s look to bring home the Director’s Cup this year because WE ARE.WASH. U.!
