Two University bands perform tonight at Cicero’s, and this is not going to be your average show.

The performances will have both celebratory and benevolent undertones. Alisdair marks the release of their new album “Anomoly” tonight, showcasing songs recorded last semester with AmpSTL. Local critics already issued positive responses to the album, and its single is getting air time on the Point.

But the show is also a benefit concert for Form Follows Failure, another local band with University ties. Over winter break, while playing a gig in Nashville, Tennessee, their tour van crashed and burned, literally. Without their van, the band was forced to leave their trailer overnight at the club where they were performing, and it was stolen. That’s all of their equipment (estimated at around $19,000) and CDs and merchandise-gone.

A portion of the profit from tonight’s show will help Form Follows Failure get back on their feet. So if supporting two University bands wasn’t incentive enough, there’s an even better reason to get out and see some live music. To sweeten the deal, Alisdair is giving a free copy of “Anomoly” to all attendees.
