Just in case… Alternatives to WILD

>>Javier Mendoza with Robynn Ragland and Adam Schmitt
Blueberry Hill’s Duck Room. 9 p.m. 21+. 6504 Delmar.

The list of bands Mr. Mendoza has performed with is wide-ranging, but his work with The Roots and G Love & Special Sauce presents him and his co-performers as worldly fall-backs to a soggy W.I.L.D.

>>Flaming Pie
Cicero’s Resturant. 6691 Delmar. 8 p.m. $8 18+, $5 21+.

A Beatles tribute band from Ohio. Their name comes from one of Paul McCartney’s solo albums. About the closest thing you’ll get to seeing The Beatles in concert without some sort of time machine or the ability to raise the dead.

>>Taming of the Shrew
Grandel Theater. 8 p.m. $12 (students). 3610 Grandel Square. 314-534-3810

So this guy Petruchio rolls up on Padua looking to acquire mad papes. His mark is the obstinate Katherine who is packing a dowry. Petruchio Diddy definitely bit off more than he can chew with Katie. Let’s get ready to rumble Shakespeare style.

>>A Street Car Named Desire
Art Loft Theater. 1527 Washington Avenue. 8 p.m. 314-773-6526.

Blanche DuBois. A Streetcar. Desire. Stella. Stella’s husband Stanley. Tennessee Williams. New Orleans. Conflict. Accents. You know you love it.
